Happy Birthday Jared

Jared's Cake...yes he got a cake because I love him, even thought I hate cake.

For Jared's birthday we stayed home and just had fun as a family.

Jared and Nate

Blowing out the cake.

"I love lamp," this is what Jared is saying....quoting Brick off Anchorman.

Thank you Jared for all the joy and love you bring to our family. You are a wonderful husband and father. I hope you had a wonderful birthday. We love you.

Happy Birth Day Jared.

Bath Time

So Miley is now starting to enjoy bath time. She is so cute. She laughs, she likes to splash, and kick, and talk and smile. It is so fun to play in the water with her. She is just so adorable. She is growing so fast too. She now weighs 11 lbs 9 oz, and is 23 inches long. She is in the 60th % in weight, height, and head circumference. We had our first experience with shots on Wednesday and lets just say I have never seen her cry so hard and be so sad. It was so hard to see her so upset and sad especially because she had been so happy all morning and was talking and smiling so much and being so incredibly cute. She even had a good chat with the doctor and was very good for her check up. It was the mean nurses that she didn't like. 6 shots, one oral and the other 5 in her legs. She slept for the first 2 hours after we got home. When she awoke up all she did was fuss and cry, a lot till around 9ish when we finally got her to sleep for the night. Jared and I have decided this is one of those necessary evil you have to put your kids through that pull on your heart strings and there is nothing you can do for them to prevent the pain and hurt.

Early Birthday and Saying goodbye to the Calls

So the Calls surprised Jared with a cake on Friday after we went to the Aquarium which has a funny story I have to tell. So on our way home Charity calls me and says they wanted to stop on the way home to our house to get Jared an ice cream cake, but that they wanted to surprise him with it so some how they needed to loose us. The plan was that they were going to follow us home. So after we gets off the phone I lie to Jared and told him that the Calls needed to stop on the way to get some more diapers, and that we should just meet them at our house. Lying is ok in this situation right....and he believed me. Then like 10 to 15 min later Charity calls again. Okay you can read the conversation with Charity and then imagine what Jared was hearing, only my half and tell me how he wasn't suppose to be a little curious....

Charity says something like, "We are at the store and we wanted to know what kind of cake Jared might like. I'll name off some of them and then you tell me which you think we should get."
Okay easy enough right. "OK," I say.
She names some off... "Mint Chocolate Chip," I stopped her.
"Yep that's good." Right there I'm thinking perfect, that is exactly the kind he would like. And I'm sure I can make up some excuse as to why she was calling again.
She continues, "Or there's Oreo,"
"Nope the first one" I say.
"Or there is cookie dough,"
"Nope the first one is good."
"What about vanilla with recess."
I'm thinking STOP, what am I going to tell him now to explain me saying 'Nope the first one' over and over. Nothing was coming to me that would make any sense to cover up what they were doing and why they had called. Finally she said, ok we'll get the mint chocolate chip one. lol
So I say goodbye and hang up. Jared then looks at me with the look of what was that all about. I just stared at him, my mind running 100 miles an hour try so hard to find the right words. I gave up and told him the truth to a degree. I said that they actually didn't need diapers at all, that they wanted to pick up a surprise for him for his birthday and that was all I could tell him. Oh and to be surprised. What else could I have said.

When they got to our house Ben left the ice cream cake out on the railing outside of our house because Jared was just inside of the front door. So they all came in and waited for the moment when Jared would step out of the front room and they could rush the cake into the house and in the freezer to hide till later. Hannah started to cry and so Ben said, "Lets go find aunt Rena and see if she can make you happy." Jared followed with Miley. They came back to my room, just as I was coming out there. I realized what was going on and stopped to linger in the hall with them all as I saw Charity fumbling around in our freezer trying to hide the cake. It was so funny.

Jared claimed later, when got the cake out and brought it to him with candles lit, that he had no idea this was all happening. So either we did a great job or he was lying. I guess we'll never know. It was so sweet of them and made Jared really happy. He hardly ever gets cake since I hate cake.

Saturday we all said goodbye. Charity had to give a talk in Sacrament meeting on Sunday so they had to get home so she could finish writing it. We had a great time and are so appreciative to the Calls for making the time to come and see us.

The Aquarium Again? Oh Yeah!

On Friday we went to the Aquarium with the Calls and Jared got to go too. Its been a long time since he has been able to go with us. He took the day off so he could have fun with us all since Ben was done with his conference and had the day off too.

Here we are out behind the Aquarium.

We got to see lots of the different life forms in the Ocean, here is a huge
manta ray swimming right at us in the giant tank.
The boys had such a good time. It is nice going to the Aquarium with other kids because Nate actually looks at the fish because everyone else, aka the other kids, are looking at them.
Jared is such a big help with the kids.
Nate and Stewart in front of the Kelp Forest tank.
The new Splash Zone is Nate's favorite are for sure. He loves playing in the water.
Here is Stew and Nemo.
These two love to play together even thought they fight a lot of the time. Kids are so funny.
Ben and Hannah hanging out.
The Calls and Nate...

Miley was sleeping so she missed out on the picture.
After we went to Willy's Smokehouse to eat. It was really good. I got the Brisket and ribs, and Nate's mac and cheese was so good too. We really enjoyed the food.

Nate after lunch ran out to the train, he loves trains, the only problem is he didn't wait for mom or dad so once again he got the lecture of not running out without us. He scares me at times.
Thank goodness for Jared...he takes good care of him, and Stew held on to
Nate so they were both safe.
Both kids pasted out on the way home...I guess we wore them out.

My Museum With Charity and the Kids.

Charity, Stewart, Hanna, Nate, Miley, and I went to a Children's Museum in Monterey while the Calls were up for a conference for Ben's work, called My Museum. Nate and I have been here one other time a long time ago and he had a blast, but this time we had even more fun.
Our little girls even had a good time.

Stew and Nate dressed up like fire men, and construction workers,
and they even worked in a store that made pizza and Nate sold Charity a sandwich for $5,000. I think she bartered him down to $250. What a deal.

Our Construction workers are so strong as you can see.

We all had a great time.

Here they are off to a fire, Nate and Stewart took turns sliding down the poll.

"Stew drive fast."

"Looks like the fire is out now."

It was so hard to get this picture, they both kept so busy.

Charity and Miley
Here is the joint that you can buy $5,000 dollar sandwiches from.
We'll have to come back her soon, Tuesdays are half off so we can get in for $4.00.
Sweet.
